CHOPSTIX - MAL KELAPA GADING
I was going through my favorite Instagram feeds when I saw a post from an Indonesian food blogger that I most look up to; @eatandtreats. He was partnering with Chopstix to host a giveaway, having 200K dining vouchers for 5 lucky winners. Honestly, I was not expecting much since I always realized that winning a giveaway is just a slight chance (not much to hope for). A few days after, my phone screen lit to a notification. I WON THE GIVEAWAY! It brought tremendous excitement for me that I rushed to my family members to notify them that I won the dining vouchers.
I have been eyeing on Chopstix for some time. Everytime I walk at the mall, I always wanted to try their foods. Plus, I was also interested in their free fortune cookies that (some) contain free dish inside. Yet, I was not much convinced to visit the restaurant. As soon as the PR group of the restaurant sent the vouchers to my e-mail, I immediately did a research on the restaurant. It has always been a habit for me to explore about each restaurant and their dishes before actually visiting.
Chopstix is well-known for their semi fast food concept of Chinese dining. Their menu mainly consists of common Chinese dishes; noodles, fried rice, kway-teow, bee-hoon and some light bites like dumplings and lumpias. In fact, it has been one that lasted for quite long in the market.
Last night, I finally went to Chopstix at Mal Kelapa Gading for a dinner with my family. Their outlet in Kelapa Gading is small, considering it is located in the food court (unlike their other branches which stand as a single place for their own).

The variety of the dishes that the restaurant serves fits the entirety of my family's appetite. Our dinner last night was overall FREE (due to the use of the 200k dining vouchers), yet we also added one or two meals for extra-sharing. Alright, let us now move on to the dishes!
FORTUNE COOKIE (complimentary with any purchase of main course)
The Fortune Cookie! It is given for free with any purchase of main course.
We got three fortune cookies, yet we were not that lucky to get
free dishes that may appear on a small piece of paper inside. Yet we
received some enlightening words inside the cookies.
MIE IJO AYAM KYOTO (Rp34.800,00)
This one was my favorite among all the dishes in Chopstix! It is the newest addition
to their menu and it has been quite trending lately. The green color of the noodle came
from the extraction of fresh Horenzo leaves, which made it healthy! To complement
the dish, they also served it with some nice chicken cutlets and fried kekian.
Nothing to complain about this one, yet I am not really a fan
of their fried kekian.
CHOPSTICKS UP! The noodles are well-seasoned. I love just how both salty
and umami the flavor is. The texture is fine as well. It's nice, isn't it?
Healthy and tasty, both at the same time!
HK BEEF BRISKET NOODLE (Rp38.800,00)
CLASSIC! You can never go wrong with a nice bowl of beef brisket noodle
like this. I think they summed up the whole dish pretty well, without
really overpowering the palates. The beef was quite tender and
I loved the soup! (You can have this dry as well). This one was definitely a
comfort meal for me and my family. If you desire more taste,
add some soy sauce or some chilli to it.
NASI KUNG PAO CHICKEN (Rp36.800,00)
We really loved the noodles that they serve, but we would be pretty
stuffed up if we just ordered all noodles. So, we decided to have this
nice portion of Kung Pao Chicken Rice. Nothing much different from any
other Kung Pao Chicken, but I personally found this surprisingly
satisfying even though this one might be infamous in their restaurant.
So those are the three main courses that we ordered for our dinner last night. They were all good! Nothing really had to be complained though, we were satisfied. Plus, their portions were generous. Fulfilling our appetites nicely. Alright, now let's move on to the SIDE DISHES!
LUMPIA SEAFOOD CHOPSTIX (Rp44.800,00)
Their most famous side dish! Well, I am personally not a huge fan
of dishes with mayonnaise, but I had to admit that their lumpia
was great! My family loved it too. Crispy and well-cooked!
PANGSIT GORENG 5 PCS (Rp15.800,00)
Nothing much to say about this one, but you know,
every bowl of noodle would not be complete without some
fried dumplings!
Those were all the dishes that we had for dinner last night for the spending of 200K that was redeemed with the dining vouchers. We did order another bowl of their Mie Ijo Ayam Kyoto plus some Chicken Wings. About their Chicken Wings, I think it was not really well-cooked. Some were undercooked and the seasoning was just too much in my opinion. Despite that, I really enjoyed my first ever dining experience in Chopstix. Especially that I got to spend my time there with my beloved family. I will definitely be coming back here (and the other outlets) in the future!
