SALTY SAM - KELAPA GADING
As most of you might have realized that the trend of salted egg-based dishes and meals have been quite a major trend in the community. From around two years ago, I have seen brands and restaurants emerging with having salted egg as their specialty.
Among all the countless numbers of brands existing right now, Salty Sam has been standing quite strong and nicely in the competitive game of the F&B industry. It was the first brand that I recognized to have salted egg-based dishes from two years ago and it is still doing great today.
Started all the way back from a single home industry based in Kelapa Gading, it has been developing rapidly and now it has opened several outlets in Jakarta and it has been a frequent participant in many food festivals and pop-up events.
I first tried their dishes about two years ago yet I had not started my blog or doing food photography for my Instagram feed or whatsoever. Yet recently, they opened a pop-up booth during my school's annual open-house event and I got to try them again! I remember back then they only have the range of chicken and prawn with either salted egg sauce or cereals, yet now they have the chicken skin version (which I got to try and going to review in this post I am writing!) - They also launched the Buttermilk version of their chicken rice and people have been loving it a lot!
Salted Egg Skin Rice Box
This I LOVE! Super fair portion with a runny sunny side up on top, crispy coated fried chicken skin with generous amount of torched mozzarella on top, their tasty signature salted egg sauce with fragrant real curry leaves (which I do appreciate) and some nice sambal matah on the side! It was heavenly fulfilling because I really love both salted egg and sambal matah! I cannot recall the exact price, but I guess it had to be around 30-35k since their menu are all affordable!
As I have reached the end of this blog post, I have been drooling already and I might want to order another box soon! I am curious about their Buttermilk range. Though it may not be the best for me among all the other competitors, yet it was overall nice. They also have a booth in PASAR MOI, Mall of Indonesia, make sure you come over whenever you are in Kelapa Gading. Wishing all the very best for Salty Sam!
