GIVING CHAPAYOM A SECOND CHANCE (BRIEF REVIEW)
As most of you who have been following me along on this blog or on my Instagram, I am an avid lover of anything that is tea-based. That means when I go out and I grab a drink, it mostly has to be either water, juice, or tea! I might say that I have so much tried quite a lot of tea variations.
Lately, I have been quite much into Thai Tea and seriously, there are so many brands and ventures serving numerous renditions of Thai Tea within the vast marketplace and competition. When it comes to naming the famous ones, Chapayom is among them since it is a global franchise rooted in Thailand and has expanded its venture by opening several outlets in Jakarta.
I actually got to try their Thai Tea a while ago and honestly, I was not really fond of it. It was lacking taste and overall bland. I mean, I pretty much paid attention in the way they prepare the drink; the utensils used and the ingredients, nothing seemed off but truly, it did not taste that great.
Yet earlier today, I decided to give them a second chance since Thai Tea has always been their signature drink and I have been hearing quite a lot of nice words about them from various people in the community as well.
I opted for their classic Cha Yen (classic Thai Tea drink) while they also have variations with green tea and chocolate as well. Yet when it comes to Thai Tea, I always go with the classic one. For the price, I have to admit that Chapayom is considerably more affordable in comparison to other competitors (since they serve the adequate cupping size in common).
Cha Yen
I am glad that I actually gave them a second chance because what they served today was really nice! Went to their outlet in Pasar MOI (Mall of Indonesia) and I could truly taste the flavor and the great composition of ingredients in just the right ratio. I guess the last time I went in, they might had given way too much ice that the Thai Tea flavor and aroma became overshadowed. In my opinion, a good Thai Tea has to be just decent without being way too overpowering or way too sweet. Also, a great one has to be in the right composition and perfectly mixed (or shaken like how Chapayom nicely does with their shaker cup and blending system - leaving less residuals).
I guess that pretty much sums up my verdict towards what I had from Chapayom today. Though I think it may not be the best one, I pretty much believe that they are actually pretty good and I am hoping that they can do more and be consistent with their own character. Wishing all the very best for Chapayom Indonesia!
By the way, I have been receiving questions from you guys about how I edit my photos. I have shared some tips and tutorial on how I edited the photo above. For your information, I simply took the photo with my iPhone and just applied a few edits with VSCO and Afterlight. For more details, head over to my Instagram account: @richienakata !
