PASOLA JAKARTA - THE RITZ-CARLTON PACIFIC PLACE

I would like to congratulate The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place on its glorious 11th Anniversary beforehand. Celebrating another year of prestige and success, the hotel hosted a series of spectacular giveaways with prizes of enjoying their finest facilities for the lucky winners. I was one of the two lucky winners of the first round of their giveaway, which meant that I got to enjoy buffet for 2 pax at their one and only restaurant, PASOLA. Therefore I would like to thank the hotel management team for welcoming me at PASOLA to enjoy a lovely dinner with my sister. It was such an honor and pleasure to be able to dine-in at the reputable restaurant.

PASOLA is located on the 6th floor of The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place and it serves both ala-carte dining and buffet. Under Sean Macdougall as the Executive Chef and everyone in the team, PASOLA welcomes their guests with refined international cuisines that celebrate local farmers and food artisans of Indonesia, which is why the Indonesian elements is really fond and found in almost every dish to emphasize the character of the brilliant concept.

I really love how glamorous their chandelier installment is! Being
the centerpiece of the main buffet area with the iconic design and shapes.

Also really impressed by how they did the Christmas
decor without being way too much yet charming with the
smallest details on the tables!

Not only dining tables, the restaurant also accommodates a bar, lounge area
and private rooms for various events and occasions.

I went in for a dinner with my sister. We arrived at around 7 PM and the venue was not really occupied. A friendly staff showed us our table which was located by the window; perfect to enjoy just after the downpour. We were kindly welcomed with two glasses of their nice Lemongrass Tea and I got to meet the restaurant manager which showed me around while explaining briefly about the restaurant and their specialties. I have pretty much been familiar with the restaurant and I have always wanted to try their "Barramundi Dabu-Dabu" (their specialty dish which is available in their ala-carte menu). Yet since I was there to enjoy the buffet, I did not get to try any of their ala-carte dish, but I got to browse a range of selections provided in their buffet station.

One of the perks of going in for a dinner on a week day is that the restaurant is not really occupied as it is usually on their breakfast or Sunday brunch, which means I got to take my time to do a tour of the restaurant and take some pictures. Sorry if the pictures are not really at their best since the lighting was quite dimmed, but here are some of my favorites from their buffet selection:

Roasted Duck

I have to say that they do really well on their roasted duck.
Having just the right level of doneness and still being tender and flavorful,
paired with Szechuan Peppercorn.

Fettuccine with Vegetable Pesto Sauce

Fusilli Chicken Bumbu Kuning

Now this is their rendition of Italian-Indonesian fusion! Having the
traditional Bumbu Kuning down to the details of the garnish:
fried onion and spring onion!

Roast Chicken Bang Bang Sesame Dressing

Homemade Cheese Biscuits
Now this one is my personal favorite out of all the selections that I got to try during my dinner. PASOLA is all about the little delicacies and their homemade cheese biscuits carry a perfect blend of their rendition of various fusions. I got to try two variations:

Having Salmon Gravlax on top

Duck Sambal Matah and Roasted Tomato
This one became my personal favorite! I really loved and admired
the excellent idea of blending Indonesian culinary heritage with their tasty
cheese biscuits! MUST TRY!

Roast Barbecued Lamb Rack

This one was truly eye-catching and heavy! Finely grilled and
very sumptuous! Paired with Szechuan Pepper Corn as the side dressing.
Yet, it was slightly undercooked on the inside, giving a
slight unpleasant aroma of flesh.

Assorted Breads

Desserts
I am personally not really a person who enjoys dessert and cakes, yet I have to say that PASOLA and The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place did an amazing job with their pastries and cakes! My favorite was their Ubi Ungu Opera Cake (again having local farm-grown ubi ungu as the base - love!)

I did enjoy the whole dinner experience at PASOLA. I personally like the ambience that was relaxing and simply pleasing. The buffet selections were not as many as how they serve on their Sunday Brunch (adjusted to the pricing as well). Honestly, I have to say that there was not much that were truly spot-on except for their Homemade Cheese Biscuits with Duck Sambal Matah which certainly was exceptional. What I mean is for the other selections, I think the restaurant could have done really better to live up to the prestigious standard of Ritz-Carlton venture. As I have said before, for the buffet, PASOLA is all about the little yet wonderful delicacies.

The staffs in the buffet station were all really warm and helpful, however I had a quite unpleasant thing with the table service because we had to move our used plates to another table in order to fit the other plates to the table. The staffs were not really quick in picking up the plates, even until we left the restaurant. Anyways, that would not be that detrimental towards my perspective and thoughts about PASOLA. I think the restaurant can do a lot more to keep on improving and I would definitely love to go back to try their stunning dishes from their Ala-Carte menu.

Wishing all the very best for PASOLA Jakarta and The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place!
