KOPICONE - A VERY SHORT "FIRST-TRY" REVIEW
I have not got much time to work on my blog lately since I have been facing various exams and preparations for university and that also means that I have not been the quickest to follow the culinary trends over the past few months. What I have been noticing is that the trend in beverages have been quite heated lately, with hundreds of new names emerging in the business. Speaking of beverages, you know that coffee is the biggest player in the game.
Being someone who does not really enjoy coffee most of the time, I have managed to give a little room to trying (still preferably light ones). I have received recommendations from my friends along with good comments in the social media about one of the newest kids on the block: Kopicone!
They recently opened their second outlet in Kelapa Gading. Their outlet is really small, though it still accommodates some seating and space if you would like to sit down or hangout with your friends. I went in with my siblings and we decided to order their coffee for take-away.
Without too much yakking since they are not really different from most coffee shops in common, let us hop straight to their coffee:
Kopi Susu Rayuan (20K)
I have a habit to always try the recommended or best-selling menu whenever I visit a place for the first time. Their barista recommended "Kopi Susu Rayuan" as their best-selling menu. What made me interested about this one in particular is that it contains rhum and I have never tried beverages with rhum before! Do not imagine that their dose of rhum would be really heavy, just a light dash yet distinctive in flavor. Do not worry if you cannot stand strong and acidic coffee like me because they provide options on whether you want your cup to be more creamy or not. The flavor was overall nice and the highlight of their coffee is that it was really aromatic! My friend told me a few days before I tried their coffee that their coffee smells really good and I could not agree more!
As you can see in the photo, the millennial-pink cup is the hot one (which I ordered) and the one in the back is the cold one (which my brother ordered). I think you might not want too much ice for this one in particular if you do not want to lose the character of the rhum inside. My sister had their classic latte and she said that it was not bad as well.
Regarding their pricing, their coffee is quite affordable; ranging from 18K to 40K (manual brew) and they also serve some snacks and gelato in the house! Coffee and gelato are their specialties, therefore those two make the word: KOPICONE!
