CELEBRATING MOM'S BIRTHDAY AT KITCHENETTE
No matter what our schedules may be, we always celebrate our birthdays in the family by having a lunch or dinner together. This time it's Mom's birthday (which was on June 1) and I suggested to the family for a dinner at Kitchenette. We have not been going too far outside the neighborhood because we have been enjoying our time to rest at home. I also picked Kitchenette because of their range of cuisines which in a way more diverse to suit each of our palates (especially Mom's because she does not really expand her preferences to various types of cuisines).
I have always had my heart for Kitchenette, especially in a way they present themselves as home to their loyal guests. If you dine at Kitchenette, all the servers will welcome you with a simple sentence "Welcome Home!" and those two words made us feel like we are at home. Not only about that, but the overall concept of the restaurant is very homey that it does not really feel like we are actually dining in a restaurant or anything. From how they organized the place and ambiance, down to how they create segments of kitchens in their menu.
Among all of the establishments under ISMAYA Group, Kitchenette in my opinion is the most amicable to all kinds of palates because they simply serve hearty meals that usually comes out from the kitchens at homes. Serving Western, European and Asian cuisines in simplicity yet they are never playing with the ingredients and serious execution. I learned from a professional chef which once said that simple dishes are actually difficult. Why? Because you simply cannot fail a single point in the execution (since it is a simple one, no room to miss). Well, I am not saying that the dishes that they served are all perfect and top-notch, but regarding their overall concept and the way they treat their guests in a lovely way, I have to say that Kitchenette is among my top favorites/go-to restaurants at the moment!
I last visited Kitchenette a while ago and the dishes back then were great to me. Then I came back a few days ago with my family and they impressed me! They even improved their cooking, service and overall hospitality. The server on our table was really swift and helpful in assisting us throughout our dinner. We ordered some hearty meals (each for one of us - which then shared to everyone in the table):
Southern Boneless Fried Chicken Waffle (105K)
I could not just skip this one because this is my personal favorite dish and my go-to order every time I dine at Kitchenette. This dish made me fall in love with the restaurant ever since I first visited Kitchenette a while ago and in fact I even wrote a full blog article about this one! This is just the perfect BOMB combination between the crispy yet super tender fried chicken and the waffles; with maple syrup and their amazing chili butter. Love!

Baked Truffle Macaroni (95K)
My brother ordered this! I actually was not expecting that much from this one, however my speculations were totally wrong. This was really good! Truffle was generous and super fragrant, creamy and balanced; topped with turkey ham. I would honestly have another one for sure.
Spanish Style Enchiladas (95K)
Sister got her hands on this one (and so did we)! This turned out to be great! Fresh and fun kind of twist with nice tortilla texture and the chili con carne: almost like lasagna, yet this one suited me better!
Grilled Chicken Club (85K)
Like I told you, my Mom is always really simple in her food selections. She really likes breads and sandwiches, especially in classic eateries. This one is not an ordinary kind of club: I liked how they used ciabatta for the bread, also their homemade chips. A nice match with the dijon mayo!
Classic Spaghetti Aglio Olio (55K)
*additional chicken breast or shrimp = +39K
A classic, good one. As you know, I am always on the hunt for the best aglio olio wherever I go. Though this might not be outstanding or anything, it was not bad either. Fragrant and nicely cooked - would be so much better if the shrimp was more fresh and succulent! This can be served spicy or non-spicy per your request, yet we had the non-spicy one.
Kitchenette is one of the examples of a nice establishment. Being helmed under a large and renowned establishment, of course all of us must be expecting nice things coming from them. However, I often find big establishments sometimes miss on their service and sole hospitality which is crucial. Yet based on my experiences at Kitchenette, they have a wonderful service! Swift and helpful, warm and welcoming - back to the message that welcomed all of us into the restaurant: "WELCOME HOME!"
Food was great and always reliable throughout any time of the day and any kinds of occasions; especially if you just fancy a simple yet hearty meal. Those two terms define them best! I hope they can always keep up with their consistency and never lose the essence of being a home to their guests.
All the best for Kitchenette!
